This session explores the fundamental links between geochronology and petrology. It is increasingly clear that the the significance of age measurements is controlled by the mineralogy of a geochronometer, the petrogenesis, thermobarometry, and textural relationships of the dated rock and its constituent minerals. The tools to advance our understanding include spatially resolved / stepwise release analyses, high precision analyses, and the context provided by multi-isotope systematics. We invite contributions that investigate the timing of geological processes in crustal, mantle and planetary samples, the precision-accuracy dilemma, as well as analytical and methodological developments.

The Keynote speaker will be Andrew Kylander-Clark (University of California Santa Barbara)
